A registered design or model is an exclusive right granted for the appearance of a product or its part as indicated by its features, in particular, its lines, contours, colours, shapes, textures, materials and / or its ornamentations.
A registered design or model is valid for the entire territory for which it is registered.
It is possible to obtain the registration at national, community or international level.
INTERNATIONAL DESIGNS
The International Designs and Models Registration System can be applied between the countries joining L’Aja Agreement. The systems allow owners of drawings and models protecting them in different countries by only a request in only a language by paying the fees in only a currency.
COMMUNITY DESIGNS AND MODELS
With a Registered Community Design/Model and a single application, it’s possible to place a design in all current 27 European countries. A Registered Community Design/Model is an exclusive right granted for the appearance of a product or its part as indicated by its features, in particular, by its lines, contours, colours, shapes, textures, materials and / or its ornamentations. The cost to obtain the protection of Registered Community Design/Model is surprisingly low. In some cases, it is lower than the cost of the registration valid only in Italy
